Missions

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Acts 1:8

Our God is a missionary God

He is in the business of making His name known throughout the earth and has called us to be His witnesses. It is not that He needs us to accomplish His purpose, but He blesses opportunity to join Him in what He is doing and to rejoice in His glory. At Neptune there are opportunties for the entire church to be involved in missions through praying, giving and going - begin praying about which path you will choose.

Mission Opportunities

Mission House: The Mission House is an organization that ministers to homeless people in the Beaches area. Neptune provides and serves a meal at the Mission House on the 3rd Thursday of every month. You can be a part of the Mission House ministry by providing food, preparing food, or serving food once a month.

BEAM: Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry focuses on helping families stay together in their homes, thus preventing homelessness, while encouraging them to accept responsibility and take charge of their lives.  You can be a part of this ministry through:

  • Donations - Because BEAM serves so many families in the Beaches area, they are always in need of food and other personal items.  You can bring your donations to the church office, or deliver them to BEAM directly.
  • Volunteering - Volunteers are needed on-site MWThF between the hours of 9am-1pm and Tues. 1-5pm (paper work, organizing, cleaning, making food bags, misc. work).
  • Specialized Activities - BEAM offers many specialized activities throughout the year that you can participate in.  A few examples are: BEAM Silent Auction in May, Back to School with BEAM in the summer, and Adopt a family for the holidays.

Helping Hands: Helping Hands ministers to families in need in the Jacksonville area.  They provide food, clothing, and short-term housing in order to help families get back on their feet. You can volunteer with your family or a small group of friends to do some work in the Helping Hands Village.  Work needed includes painting, yard work, clean-up, and organizing food and clothing.  You can also donate Home Depot Gift Cards to help with the up-keep of the Helping Hands Village.

Apartment Ministry: Open Doors is a multihousing outreach ministry of Neptune Baptist Church, dedicated to reaching out to the 95% of apartment residents who do not attend church regularly. We are currently ministering to WoodHollow Apartments, with the help of Megan Condon, Apartment Ministry Director. The purpose of this ministry is to serve the residents, the managers and the staff in order to show them God's love. We are constantly looking for support in the form of prayer, volunteers and donations.

Prison Ministry: You can be a part in helping minister to prisoners all over the U.S.  You can become a pen-pal to a prisoner, or go with our prison ministry to visit some of the prisons. For more info, please visit the Prison Ministry website.

Meals on Wheels: Once every 3 months, Neptune sponsors a week of delivering meals to elderly people in need.  You can volunteer to deliver meals one day for that week.
